Charles 2 the fat - lost his throne
Vikings attacked the area near the upper Marne and Seine river area. Vikings burned Meaux and Troyes, they extorted Reims and Verdun for contributions. The Franks had had enough of the weak leadership of Charles the fat, the Franks removed Charles from the throne and instead gave power to Arnulf of Karnten. The brave defender of Paris Odo, was proclaimed king of West Francia. The Carolingian empire was split up i an Eastern and a Western part.
