1029 - Sweynn was elected as king of Norway

Denmark
Cnut the great divided the country into 4 bishoprics:Jutland,Zealand,Fyn and Skaane subordinated to the Archbishop of Canterbury.
England
Cnut the great demanded Earl Haakon to sail to England, but Haakon shipwrecked outside the coast of Scotland and drowned.
Ireland
Olaf Sigtryggsson(AmlaĆ­b mac Sitriuc) the son of Sigtrygg Silkbeard was taken prisoner by the king of Brega Mathghamhain Ua Riagain and was freed only after payment of a ransom.
Norway
The 13 year old son of Cnut, Sweynn was elected as king of Norway. Cnut gave the role as guardians for Sweynn to Elgyfu, mother of Sweynn and Harold, son of Thorkil the tall. Olav the holy landed in Norway with an army.
